Mowing

Mowing is one of the most common of all cultural landscape practices, and is an important part of a successful landscape management plan. We take a lot of pride in the lawns we mow and always offer our best in quality and service. From freshly sharpened blades, to changing our weekly mowing pattern, to using the proper equipment for your lawn, we try to do the little things to help make your lawn look its best. Because the appearance of your lawn is a reflection of us and our service.

Every lawn mowing includes a complete mowing of the property, as well as string trimming around all edging, trees, posts, etc., and removal of freshly cut grass from all paved and non-desirable areas with a power blower. [Back to Top]

Fertilization/Weed Control

A healthy, well maintained lawn provides not only a comforting aesthetic, but a great ally in helping keep our environment and lakes free of pollutants. Cultural maintenance practices such as mowing, aerating, and proper fertilization are vital to the overall health of your lawn. A healthy lawn acts as a filter for pollutants that might otherwise run-off into our beautiful lakes and streams.

Our certified applicators use not only the highest quality, but the correct materials in the care for your lawn. Contact us today so we can develop a management plan that is right for your lawn. [Back to Top]

Aerations

Wondering why your lawn looks a bit stressed out? It’s probably a result of soil compaction or excess thatch. Normal everyday activity can compact the top 2 inches of soil, which can cause many adverse affects in your lawn. Core aeration can help alleviate compaction and bring soil into the thatch layer to help break down the accumulated organic material. Other benefits of aeration include:

  • Stimulates Root Growth
  • Enhances Water Uptake
  • Reduces Compactions
  • Improves Oxygen Content
  • Enhances Thatch Control
  • Improves Nutrient Availability

De-Thatching

Thatch is the accumulation of dead organic material in the lawn. Thatch can be detrimental to your lawn in a number of ways; it prevents nutrients and oxygen from reaching the soil and the roots of the grass, it can be an ideal environment for pests and diseases to thrive, and it can cause water to run-off instead of being absorbed into the ground and plant.

De-thatching is a very intrusive, but necessary, process. For this reason we recommend doing it in Spring, giving your lawn an entire growing season to benefit from it, though it can also be done in the Fall. We use power rakes to get down into the thatch layer and remove the dead organic material, then we haul away the accumulated debris. In no time your lawn will look better, and be healthier! Sidewalk Edging

Edging of your sidewalks, driveways, curbs, and any other concrete surfaces gives your lawn a finished appearance. Various debris can accumulate on the edges of your concrete surfaces, much of this detritus can be harmful to the overall health of your lawn. Cutting a 90 degree edge along the side of all these surfaces, and removing the resulting debris, gives your lawn a cleaner appearance, improved overall health, and widens your sidewalks for optimal use in during the winter. We recommend this practice at least 3 times a growing season. [Back to Top]

Spring/Fall Clean-Ups

Get your property ready for winter and summer seasons. Clean-up services include:

  • Remove all leaves from stone and bark bed areas
  • Cut the tops of perennial type plants
  • Dethatch during clean-up (this is an additional service, please request if you would like this completed).
  • Mow grass areas to collect finer debris
  • Trim along beds, walks, and drives
  • Blow off drives, walks, and deck surfaces

Pruning

To ensure the health and appearance of your landscape plants they should be pruned and trimmed annually. Often times overlooked landscape plants can become too dense and overgrown, stunting the development and health of that plant. At Miller-Rohde we offer renewal pruning services for those plants that have been neglected too long, as well as pruning and shaping services for those plants that have been maintained. Miller-Rohde takes great pride in meticulously caring for your plants so they not only look great, but so they are healthy and growing great as well. [Back to Top]
